1) People keep giving me gift cards from there, so I keep using them. FREE COFFEE IS FREE COFFEE, YO.
2) If I am buying coffee, it is because I am running late and didn’t have time to make my own espresso. Since Starbucks is located right outside of the train station, it is convenient.
HOWEVER, when I’m actually going out for the purpose of getting a coffee I will go to a local coffee shop. My favourites happen to be in the Main Street neighbourhood of Vancouver. JJ Bean or Bean Around the World, usually. (Ha! I have a thing for puns.) I am still trying to find a place that I love enough to actually hang out in.
Why do I end up at Starbucks? Because in most of Canada, a good coffee place is a drive away.
And Tim Hortons are on EVERY. CORNER. And Tim Hortons SUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
The only other options nearish my house are a Starbucks (and that’s a short drive away) and a Second Cup (which is like a Canadian Starbucks and an even further drive).
Anything independent is across the harbour.
Gonna be grumpy about my country for a little bit now.
I mean, REALLY?! TIM HORTONS??!
Tim Hortons makes the worst coffee ever. I hate it. I wish it would have never made it across the border.
It pleases me to know that Canadians don’t like it either. I was starting to think they were all sick in the head.

Dunkin Donuts coffee > Starbucks coffee, as far as these things go.

In the US (New England, at least) it’s “I mean, REALLY?! DUNKIN’ DONUTS??!”
